10 Most Valuable Players In The World As At January 2022 As Vicinius Jr Overtakes Haaland and Foden
CIES Football Observatory recently released its list of the most valuable players in the world of football. This list consists of the updated values of football players all around the globe as of the beginning of the year 2022.
In the last list released by the research organization, Manchester City star, Phil Foden was named the most valuable football player in the world. This has, however, changed as the 21-year-old Manchester City academy graduate has been overtaken by Real Madrid prodigy, Vinicius Junior. Vicinius Junior has also overtaken Borussia Dortmund star, Erling Haaland, who is the subject of a rumoured transfer to Real Madrid next summer. The Brazilian attacker has been in impressive form this season and this has contributed to the rise in his market value. The 21-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided 9 assists for Real Madrid this season. According to CIES Football Observatory, his current market value stands at €166.4m.
Phil Foden occupies the second position on the list and he is valued at €152.6m. The Manchester City academy graduate has scored seven goals and provided six assists in all competitions this season.
Borussia Dortmund's goal-poacher, Erling Haaland is the third most valuable footballer in the world. The Norwegian star has been phenomenal since joining the German Bundesliga side from RB Salzburg and his impressive performances have seen his market value skyrocket since then. He is now valued at €142.5m.
Manchester United star, Mason Greenwood occupies the fourth position. The youngster has found game time difficult to come by this season due to the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo but this hasn't affected his market value significantly. The Manchester United academy graduate, who is valued at €133.9m, has scored five goals and provided two assists in all competitions for the Red Devils this season.
